Project Update Phase 3

Following the June 2026 update, the Project Team has been actively working on the preliminary design of the scheme, which involves reviewing and refining design options and ensuring that they align with policy, technical and environmental requirements.

As part of this phase, a series of environmental and traffic surveys are currently underway, and these will continue throughout the Autumn and in 2027. These surveys include baseline air, noise, and traffic assessments, as well as ecological and archaeological evaluations. The data collected will play a key role in shaping the design and the ongoing environmental evaluation process.
